About

My artwork focuses on subjects such as nature and symbolism. The artwork I make features flowers, trees, and various other elements of nature. Furthermore the concepts I explore are symbolism and the message I convey through art. The majority of my artwork focuses on representational art compared to nonobjective art. Within my artwork I reflect on the emotions expressed.
I use nature as inspiration in printmaking, painting, and watercolor. When creating artwork in likeness of flowers I consider symbolism, color, toxicity, and medicinal purposes. The sculpture “The Lilies of the Valley” features five flowers made of copper. The shine of the copper represents sweetness and purity. The gradual tarnishing of copper as it becomes aged represents the loss of innocence from childhood to adulthood, also representing the poisonous nature of the flower. This connects my artwork with the various elements of nature. The concept of nature is a main focus in my photography, featuring various landscapes.
Within my artwork symbolism is used in various aspects. As aforementioned I use symbolism in artworks that use nature. While in other artworks color is used in symbolism. Such as the color blue, which is used to express somberness or sadness in relation to emotions. Another concept I consider is the use of space.
Overall, I enjoy attributing a symbolic meaning to my artwork. This is often conveyed through direct representation. While my skills in art primarily are in painting and photography. When painting or using color I carefully consider how this element can influence the theme or meaning. Even various plants and their symbolism is considered depending on the art piece. In summary, emotion and representation are the main focus of my artwork. add another page.
